Climate Action Pathways for Schools Presents on Panel During United Nations Climate Week

On September 21st 2022, Climate Action Pathway for Schools (CAPS) intern and Porterville Unified student, Jesika Gonzalez, and CAPS executive director Kirk Anne Taylor presented on a United Nations (UN) panel, sharing the importance of advancing climate education programs and how CAPS works with school communities to accelerate the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). About the UN Joint Sustainable Development Goals Fund

The panel was part of a broader discussion focused on the launch of the UN Joint SDG Fund Alliance of Tech & Media Funders, a new partnership of the United Nations development system with the private sector. The fund will build capacity for the SDGs with public and private sector support in areas including science and technology, transportation, urban planning, oceans, climate ed tech, climate equity, energy systems, and clean water, with the deep spirit of inclusion.


Jesika Gonzalez is a senior at Monache High School in Porterville California and is a part of their Environmental Science Academy. As a student intern with CAPS, she is currently working on a plan for sustainable forms of transportation for her school community. She hopes to work on researching Porterville Desert Milkweed plants this summer. She is passionate about helping and learning about the environment.
