3M's 'Green Works' Docuseries Features CAPS and Highlights the Impact of Green Jobs Education
3M’s new “Green Works” docuseries showcases five individuals from around the world who are addressing climate challenges through green jobs. With the global green transition projected to create over 300 million new jobs by 2050, the series emphasizes the urgent need for skilled professionals in renewable energy, electric vehicles, climate education, reforestation, and sustainable fashion. Through their personal stories, the docuseries highlights how green jobs drive innovative solutions to protect the planet.
Among those featured in the series is Estefanía Pihen González, former Program Director for CAPS. With over 15 years of experience in sustainability education, Estefanía was instrumental in developing CAPS’s experiential learning programs, which focus on equipping high school students—particularly those from communities disproportionately impacted by climate change—with the tools to engage in climate action and pursue careers in green industries.
After watching the “Green Works” docuseries, CAPS intern Samira Castillo hopes that viewers of the series will understand the value of collective action in addressing climate challenges. “One message or takeaway I hope viewers get from the documentary segment featuring CAPS is that no matter what you’re doing, whether on your own or through an organization such as CAPS, you are making a difference in the world. It’s not about what you can do but about what you can do with others to make an impact on the environment around you,” she emphasized.
For CAPS intern Ahla Saleh, the most important takeaway from the film is the idea that anyone, regardless of where they come from, can make a meaningful impact. “We might seem like a small group of people, but we really have done so much and come so far. Basically, I want viewers to know that anything is possible, even for a small town like Porterville that isn’t known by a lot of people, and that they can still get stuff done. So take the opportunity and go for it.”
