Rhyane Shanley
Program Manager
Rhyane joined CAPS in 2023 and manages the Energy & Sustainability Program in Porterville Unified School District. As the Program Manager, she supports CAPS interns in their efforts to accomplish their climate action plan for the district and help them develop professionally.
Born and raised in the Central Valley, Rhyane attended Porterville Unified School District in high school. As a student in Porterville’s high school pathway program in engineering, she found a passion for serving her community and went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in communication studies at California State University, Long Beach.
While in college, she interned with the Special Olympics of Southern California, volunteered with numerous organizations, and studied abroad at Kyungpook National University, South Korea. While abroad, she taught English to university students and managed a team of international interns.
After her travels abroad, she returned home and took a position as an intern at the Clemmie Gill School of Science and Conservation for two years. While there, she taught the 6th graders of Tulare County the importance of conservation and natural science through hands-on learning.
